Interesting article in the NY Times today regarding "Luxury" or "Premium" denim. Definately worth a read and very topical. Especially topical for me as I am on the hunt for a new pair of jeans. I normally wear 501's and have scoured for years to find a good selection of Vintage Levi's but I'm looking for a change and with the numerous denim labels around at the moment it's making my decision a little harder than I'd expected.

The Jordan IV is easily recognised by many as the best Jordan produced, as many of us already know - this year will see the release of a few laser AJIV's. I find that in alot of cases when Nike try to modernise a retro shoe, they don't get it right, but I think they've done OK this time round. They have also come up with the new hybrid Jordan the Dub Zero, which once again seems to work so much better tha the lnkes of all the NU-retro's released of late.Thanks to Maas of Niketalk for the latest pics of the shoe.

A few months back Stash and Delta brought us rugs, now Dalek has designed this shower curtain. Are these street artists turning domestic on us?

Freshnessmag has been around a while now and is a great source of information on Desgn, toys and Sneakers. hey were also lucky enough to sell exclusively the boulevard dunk by SBTG some time back. This week they have provided a great featurte on SBTG's Casablanca dunk - which is Sabotage's new Staple design, and as mentioned in the feature, a design that was featured in the DPM book.

Ovolo, the new womens only sneaker by Nike was also introduced on Freshness. We'll have to wait to see how sucessful this shoe is - but it's certainly an innovative idea.

Sometimes it really surprises me what shoes sell out immediately and what stores get left with. Hanon-shop still has full size ranges of all colour ways of the Brazil Footscapes, Nort Berlin of the Zoom Talaria.

Released a week ago, but only at Head Porter and AD21 in Tokyo. Alreday available on many Japanese reselling site and on Yahoo Japan. We can all expect releases very soon in the US, Europe and Australia.

Guide to Reselling.Parts II and III.

Step II. Start small.

Don’t jump in the deep end. For a number of reasons. Firstly you need good relationships with your local shop owners and staff. Start building relationships at these stores by buying lots of product for yourself(welL atleast pretend it is for yourself), wearing their product and talking to them about what you think they are interested in. It’s similar in a way top chatting up a girl. This way when product drops in store you will be the first to know and if you are now “friends” with the staff they won’t mind you buying full size ranges of the next SB.
Secondly, Ebay! You can’t expect for buyers to buy from a seller with limited feedback, you’ll need to build that up slowly, possibly by buying product yourself on ebay, no one ever checks whether your feedback is for buying or selling.


Step III. Create a database.

You need to have regular customers to give you some security when making your purchases. Keeping records of all those who have bought from you in the past is a start, but a great way to build a bigger database is to offer your peers on one of the many sneaker forums a special “hook up” price. This works particularly well if you live in a country such as Hong Kong where retail prices or some stock is very low, you can still make a decent profit while all your US buyers believe you are hooking them up as a favour, due to the fact the price you are offering the shoes for is comparative to what the shoe would cost at retail in the US.

Below is a good example of "starting small"..just 3 pairs of Rayguns and Unkles..

Resellers.

This is the start to a new, and very topical, GUIDE TO RESELLING! Every week Slam will give you step by step instructions on how to be the best reseller you can be. I have given up trying to beat them so I figure why not help them (you) to atleast be sucessful and reliable. We'll even try and provide pictures of your idols work each weeks (as we have below this week).

Step 1. Create a Network. Join forums such as Niketalk, 5th-Dimension, Sneaker Freaker or Crooked Tongues, not only does this provide you with valuable sources of information that you require such as "what's Hype(I mean Hot), release dates and release numbers but it gives you the oppurtunity to make friends in other cities or countries around the world. You can't be everywhere at once! and this way your friend or colleague can help assist you by queueing in Japan for the latest hTm while you queue in the US for the new SB.

The second edition Mr Cartoon AF1 has been confirmed for a 1 May release at Undefeated and as a Quickstrike release at other locations during late May. The shoe will be launched to celebrate Los Angeles Mexican culture celebration "Cinco De Mayo". It sems from some reports a few pairs are alreday floating around in Japan and Hong Kong though?

So are we to expect the other styles such as the mexico inspired AF1 to see a public release, Magazine reports suggest so with a cost price of HK$1999. If anyone knows more - fill me in.....
