q. Gimme 5 reasons why you think BeingHunted picked your shark design as one of the best tees available this season?
a.I think he understood the reference, and he could see that it fits well with some other stuff that other people are doing right now.
q.Gimme 5 reasons why you think Gimme 5 fits so well within the Drooghi dynamic?
a.I think some of your older more clued up customers have known about it for a long time alongside Stussy and Hysteric Glamour - the guys who wore Duffer and Stussy back at the end of the 80s/early 90s. Other younger guys maybe don't know the background, but just appreciate the products. I think your store attracts both types of people. The older more sussed guys who have been into clothes for years, as well as younger guys who now have so many brands shouting at them and therefore more choices to make.
q. Gimme 5 reasons why your graphic tees are still going strong?
a.When gimme 5 started 15 years ago the style of print they were doing along with Hysteric Glamour (they shared designer) was really radical and out on its own. Nobody else was using that style of stenciled, Americana, pop culture reference or look. Now its in every high street shop, but its taken 15 years. Also, there were very few menswear labels at that time if you think about it. Now there is a plethora, far too many in fact. There were also fewer magazines and stores selling menswear. No it's too easy - there is no underground anymore. You can buy the same labels in ever hick town in the UK and more often than not in more than 1 store. At gimme 5 we aim to present something differently, I think people still appreciate and value that. our tees and graphics have moved on from those original iconic styles, but they still have the same sensibility.
q.Gimme 5 features that set your denim apart from all the others?
a.In general the cut is totally different from what anybody else is doing at the moment. It's baggy at the top and it tapers to the ankle. They look good either worm casually, oversized hanging down, or worn to fit for am more preppy look. As with a lot of our stuff, there are subtle details, like the roman numeral V (ie gimme V) bar tacking on the back pocket and the contrast color stitching, that not every body will notice. The denim's from a top mill in Italy that remakes many selvedge styles to a really high spec, and the more you wear and wash them the more you see the grain.
q.Gimme 5 things that we can look out for from you in the future?
a.We're lookin to bring out some records next. Stussy have a 7" reggae track coming out this summer. Gimme 5 are going to be bringing out some records by DJ Harvey. He's started a band now and the stuff I've heard so far is amazing. I heard three tracks and they're all really varied. From rockabilly/new wave/punk to more ambient stuff .We're going to be doing some tees to be released along with that. We want to work outside the constraints of fashion companies working within seasons. We want to work outside those constraints and give people interesting stuff whenever the time is right.

Drooghi.Update.
Drooghi have announced they will be selling Red Wings very soon. I was a huge fan of Red Wings years ago and have to admit with the right jeans look unbeatable! Also, if you haven't checked it already they have some great features on their site including interviews with Russell Waterman of Silas, Denis of Mighty Healthy and Neil Heard from White Riot. But here's their latest and interview with Craig of Gimme 5.
